Companies renegotiate R$670 billion in debt

A survey by consultancy Virtus BR for Valor puts corporate debt under renegotiation in Brazil at about R$670 billion, close to 10% of the corporate credit stock and well above the roughly R$260 billion of early 2024. Ricardo Jacomassi, partner at TCP Partners, says the number of judicial and extrajudicial recovery filings was surprising at the start of the year and that more restructurings are on the way. “The year should remain busy,” he says.
