Folha reports a TCP Partners study projecting Brazil's housing deficit at 6.102 million homes in 2021, about 225,000 more than the 5.877 million measured by the João Pinheiro Foundation in 2019. Ricardo Jacomassi, partner and chief economist at TCP, attributes the increase to unemployment, falling incomes and higher rents, and expects a challenging scenario for the construction materials industry and retail through the first half of 2023. “There were harmful impacts on the economy,” he says.
