Will Azul (AZUL4) buy Gol (GOLL4)? Takeover rumor lifts airline shares on the Ibovespa

Exame covers reports that Azul was studying an offer for Gol, then under Chapter 11 protection in the United States, which lifted both airlines' shares. Ricardo Jacomassi, partner and chief economist at TCP Partners, sees operational gains in a possible acquisition, since their cost structures are similar, but points to both companies' financial leverage as the key issue and believes the deal would require a financial partner. “In Azul's case, financial leverage is high,” he says.
