Abimaq wants a say in the “Nova Indústria Brasil” program, which promises billions for family farming

AGFeed

AgFeed looks at the “Nova Indústria Brasil” (New Industry Brazil) industrial policy plan, which made agro-industrial chains a priority, with R$300 billion for the program and R$20 billion in non-repayable funds, including for mechanizing family farming. Abimaq praised the initiative and wants a say in how the measures are detailed. After a 20% drop in farm machinery revenue in 2023, the sector expected flat sales in 2024. Ricardo Jacomassi, partner and chief economist at TCP Partners, said the government's preference for family farming should favor sales of low- and medium-horsepower tractors, a segment he saw as more positive than the others in 2024.
